About Us

The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corp. (USNSCC) is a national youth leadership development organization that promotes interest and skill in naval disciplines while instilling strong moral character and life skills through leadership and technical programs modeled after the Navy's professional development system.

USNSCC is comprised of two programs:

(1) The Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) program is for youth in high school, 9th through 12th grade

(2) The Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC), for youth in late elementary and middle school, 5th through 8th grade.

Our Cadets

Every Colorado Sea Cadet chooses to be an active participant in the program and contribute to the positive unit culture.

Colorado Sea Cadets are:

Volunteers in their communities

Good students

Collaborative teammates

Positive role models

Dedicated to their physical health

Adventurers

Aspiring leaders

No cadet is ever forced to attend drill, complete coursework, or attend training against his/her will and will be dismissed from the program if he/she doesn't want to be an active, positive participant.

"Being a Sea Cadet is a privilege, not a punishment."

- LCDR Gilfillan, CO Sea Cadets

Our Mission

The mission of the Sea Cadets is to Build Leaders of Character.

Our military culture stresses concepts of duty, service and self-sacrifice which are the foundation of good leadership.

At young ages, our cadets are given leadership opportunities by staffing summer training events, planning unit drill sessions, and teaching others.

While our cadets gain an appreciation for the sea services and military life, there is no requirement to join the military.  Many former cadets enlist, and dozens attend service academies or ROTC.  Cadets who complete our “recruit training” are well prepared for the rigors of boot camp or officer indoctrination.

Our Commitment

The Lexington Division, and training Ship Colorado are units of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corp.  These units were chartered to develop abilities in seamanship and sea going skills, to build and emulate patriotism and courage, establish honor, and demonstrate the commitment to lead by example through public service and high moral standards of young Americans in Colorado.  Cadets are exposed to a variety of career paths through hands-on training and experiences.

No matter what life and career path a Cadet may choose, they will be a positive impact to their community and to their country.
